Jerle stad

In the 1640s, Carl Bonde dreamed of a canal that could transport iron ore from Jerle to Lake Mälaren. He wanted to build in Jerle a new town that would be populated by the inhabitants of the parishes of Nora and Lindesberg. In October 1642, a city charter was declared for the new town of Järla Stadh, however the town never really developed. The city charter was overlooked in the municipal reform, which makes Jerle the smallest town in Sweden. Here you can visit Svalbo keramik and have coffee at Svalbo Café.
