Stadra Teater – exquisitely situated next to the mystique of Lake Grecken. Mention the names of well-known people associated with theatre like Agneta Pleijel, Marika Lagercrantz, Selma Lagerlöf, Hjalmar Gullberg or Staffan Göthe. All have been involved in some way with Stadra Teater. Imagine blue chairs hanging in the trees, or in some years blue bicycles. Picture a manor house from the 18th century and a sweet little sculpture park. Or let your thoughts drift away to Teaterkaféet Paradiset, where you can eat seven kinds of cookies or eat sachertortes, where you can have a glass of wine, or beer, or Swedish punch during intermission. Yes, there you have a small fraction of everything that is Stadra Teater. The place where the soul takes wing. The most beautiful venue in Bergslagen!
The Girl in Tails
The summer of 2018 marks the 21st season for this gem. Stadra Teater is presenting “Flickan i Frack” (The Girl in Tails) – a new play by Agneta Pleijel freely adapted from Hjalmar Bergman’s novel. Pleijel is one of Sweden’s most prominent and acclaimed authors and playwrights, and Stadra is proud to have enticed her to write her third play especially for this theatre. The Girl in Tails is about young student Katja, who takes matters into her own hands one day, commandeers her brother’s tuxedo and wears it to the Wadköping prom. At Stadra we are taking the wonderful 1920s as a starting point and weaving Swedish popular songs into Pleijel’s play, so there’s nothing less than “Happy Nation” awaiting the audience. Blue gowns are being hung in the trees, which will evoke a smile or two.
